Cardinals announce non-roster invitees

Team also selects 24 players for early Minor League camp

ST. LOUIS – The St. Louis Cardinals announced today that they have extended Major League Spring Training camp invites to 19 non-roster players.  The team also has selected 24 players to take part in early camp for Minor Leaguers.

Cardinals’ Major League pitchers and catchers report to Jupiter, Fla. on February 18 with their first workout set for February 19.  The Cardinals full squad reports on February 23 and begins workouts on February 24.

The Cardinals non-roster invitee list includes 2011 Minor League Player and Pitcher of the Year selections Matt Adams and Shelby Miller.  The Cardinals 2011 first-round draft pick, infielder Kolten Wong, and former Cubs catcher Koyie Hill are also among the non-roster invitees.

The full list of Major League non-roster invitees follows:

PITCHERS (10): John Gast*, Nick Greenwood*, Tyrell Jenkins, Joe Kelly, Victor Marte, Shelby Miller, Trevor Rosenthal, Kevin Siegrist*, Jordan Swagerty, R.J. Swindle*.

CATCHERS (5): Luis De La Cruz, Koyie Hill, Steven Hill, Cody Stanley, Robert Stock

INFIELDERS (4): Matt Adams, Ryan Jackson, Eugenio Velez, Kolten Wong.

*Left-hander.

Among the early minor league camp participants, set to report on February 24, are pitcher Carlos Martinez, outfielder Oscar Taveras and several players from last year’s draft, including outfielders Lance Jeffries, C.J. McElroy and Charlie Tilson and infielder Kenny Peoples-Wall.
