The Phillies have added former players Kevin Frandsen, Kevin Jordan and Kevin Stocker to their radio broadcast team, Executive Vice President David Buck announced today. The trio will rotate working road games alongside play-by-play announcer Scott Franzke for the 2018 season.
As previously announced, Phillies color analyst Larry Andersen will reduce his schedule in 2018 and only call home games at Citizens Bank Park. The hiring of Frandsen, Jordan and Stocker will provide Andersen the opportunity to reduce his time in the booth.
"There's no doubt that replacing LA is a tough job," said Buck. "His chemistry with Franzke has been outstanding and together they made listening to our games entertaining, but we believe that the unique personalities, knowledge of the game and familiarity with Phillies fans that each Kevin has, will complement Franzke's role in the booth, making this new lineup of radio talent fun for our fans."
Frandsen has worked on AM radio in the San Francisco Bay area for the past 18 months. He currently co-hosts "KNBR Tonight" which airs 7:00-10:00 p.m. PST on KNBR 680 AM. Prior to that, the San Jose native spent a year as co-host for KNBR 1050 AM's morning drive show, "The Audible." The former infielder played in 174 games for the Phillies over two seasons (2012-13), hitting .280 with a .333 on-base percentage.
Jordan worked three games on Phillies radio this past season with Franzke. He played his entire seven-year (1995-2001) major league career with the Phillies. In 560 games, he hit .258 with 70 doubles and 23 home runs playing first, second and third base. He ranks sixth in Phillies history with 45 pinch hits. Following his playing career, Jordan worked six seasons as a coach in the Phillies player development system.
The starting shortstop for the 1993 National League champion Phillies, Stocker has been broadcasting college baseball for the past 14 years as a color analyst for the Pac-12 Network and CBS Sports Network. He worked six games with Franzke on Phillies radio the past two seasons. Stocker was originally selected by the Phillies in the second round of the 1991 draft and played five years (1993-97) for the club, batting .262 in 545 games.
The talent schedule for road games will be finalized and announced at a later date.
