Angels trade INF C.J. Cron to Tampa Bay

TEMPE, AZ - The Angels today traded INF C.J. Cron to the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for a player to be named later. Today's announcement was made by Angels General Manager Billy Eppler.
Cron, 28, appeared in 100 games for the Angels last season and batted .248 (84/339) with 14 doubles, one triple, 16 home runs and 56 RBI. He matched his career-high in home runs and also posted a career-best .995 fielding percentage in 97 games at first base (4 errors in 810 total chances). His three defensive runs saved ranked fourth by an A.L. first baseman (min. 800 inn.).
A native of Fullerton, CA, Cron was originally selected by the Angels in the first round (17th overall) of the 2011 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Utah. In his four Major League seasons with the Angels, he has batted .262 (358/1366) with 68 doubles, five triples, 59 home runs and 213 RBI.
