TEMPE, AZ - The Angels today agreed to terms on a one-year contract with outfielder Chris Young and a minor league contract with an invite to Spring Training with infielder Chris Carter.Today's announcements were made by Angels General Manager Billy Eppler.
Young, 34, appeared in 90 games last season with the Red Sox, batting .235 (57/243) with 12 doubles, two triples, seven home runs and 25 RBI. A 12-year Major League veteran, Young has played in 1,409 career games for the Diamondbacks (2006-12), A's (2013), Mets (2014), Yankees (2014-15) and Red Sox (2016-17). The 2010 N.L. All-Star has amassed a career .237 (1090/4597) average with 286 doubles, 23 triples, 185 home runs and 577 RBI.
Carter, 31, spent the 2017 campaign in the Yankees and A's organizations. The right-handed slugger played in 62 games at the Major League level last season, all with the Yankees, batting .201 (37/184) with five doubles, a triple, eight home runs and 26 RBI before finishing the season in Oakland's minor league system. Across his big league career, Carter has collected 158 career home runs in 750 games, including a National League leading 41 in 2016 with the Brewers.
