The TORONTO BLUE JAYS have acquired RHP SAM GAVIGLIO from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations.
GAVIGLIO, 27, posted a 4-5 record last season with a 4.36 ERA in 16 games while pitching for both the Kansas City Royals and Seattle Mariners. The 6-2, 195 lb. right-hander has a career record of 37-42 over seven minor league seasons with a 4.03 ERA. Gaviglio has been optioned and will report to minor league camp.
To make room on the 40-man roster the Blue Jays have designated LHP Matt Dermody for assignment.
