Padres Announce Opening Day 25-Man Roster

The San Diego Padres have finalized their Opening Day 25-man roster, Executive Vice President/General Manager A.J. Preller announced today.

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Padres have finalized their Opening Day 25-man roster, Executive Vice President/General Manager A.J. Preller announced today.
The club has selected the contracts of right-handed pitcher Adam Cimber and catchers A.J. Ellis and Raffy Lopez, and optioned left-handed pitcher Buddy Baumann, right-handed pitchers Colten Brewer and Phil Maton, and outfielder Travis Jankowski to Triple-A El Paso.
In addition, the Padres have placed the following players on the 10-day disabled list: outfielder Franchy Cordero (left abductor strain), infielder Allen Córdoba (concussion), right-handed pitchers Dinelson Lamet (right elbow strain) and Colin Rea (right shoulder strain), and left-handed pitcher Matt Strahm (torn left patellar tendon). All 10-day DL stints are retroactive to March 26. Outfielder Alex Dickerson has also been placed on the 60-day DL (Tommy John surgery).
Earlier today, right-hander Rowan Wick cleared waivers and was outrighted to El Paso.
The Opening Day roster features seven right-handed pitchers, four left-handed pitchers, three catchers, six infielders and five outfielders. Six players are making their first appearance on a Major League Opening Day roster, including Cimber, Lopez, Kazuhisa Makita, Kyle McGrath, Jose Pirela and Christian Villanueva. With today's announcements, the Padres currently have a full 40-man roster.
