Texas rangers sign RHP Yovani Gallardo to Minor League contract

The Texas Rangers today announced that free agent right-handed pitcher Yovani Gallardo has agreed to terms on a minor league contract. Gallardo, 32, will join Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday when the Express return home from their current roadtrip.

The Texas Rangers today announced that free agent right-handed pitcher Yovani Gallardo has agreed to terms on a minor league contract. Gallardo, 32, will join Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday when the Express return home from their current roadtrip.
Gallardo was signed to a major league contract by Cincinnati on March 31 and allowed 8 runs in 2.1 innings in 3 relief appearances for the Reds. He was designated for assignment on April 10 and released on April 12 after refusing an outright minor league assignment. Gallardo had signed a one-year major league contract with Milwaukee last December 21 and was released on March 26 at the end of spring training.
Gallardo spent 2017 with Seattle, going 5-10, 5.72 in 28 games/22 starts. He is 113-93, 3.97 in 301 games/289 starts in his major league career with Milwaukee (2007-14), Texas (2015), Baltimore (2016), Seattle (2017), and Cincinnati (2018.
Acquired by the Rangers on Jan. 19, 2015, Gallardo went 13-11 with a 3.42 ERA in 33 starts for the 2015 A.L. West Champs. He was second on the staff in wins, innings (184.1), and strikeouts (121) and defeated Toronto in Game 1 of the ALDS.
Gallardo was born in Mexico, but was drafted out of Fort Worth's Trimble Tech High School and still resides in Fort Worth.
