Hendersonville High School Awarded More Than $47,000 by The Baseball Tomorrow Fund to Renovate Flood-Damaged Baseball Field

Nashville Sounds General Manager and Assistant General Manager to Attend Field Grand Re-Opening on March 19th

The Baseball Tomorrow Fund (BTF) awarded Hendersonville High School, located in Hendersonville, Tennessee, a grant in the amount of $47,366 to help fund the renovation of the school’s home baseball field located at Drakes Creek Park. The grant supported the renovation of the field after it was damaged by the region’s devastating flood in May 2010. The grant provided funds for the restoration of the outfield, including the installation of an automatic irrigation system, warning track and outfield fence. The completion of the project will allow play on the newly restored field for 200 players from the high school varsity and junior varsity teams, as well as the Babe Ruth Recreational League, middle school spring league and various travel teams.

To celebrate the completion of the renovation, the school will host a field grand re-opening ceremony at 5:45 p.m. on Monday, March 19th. Mayor of Hendersonville Scott Foster; Nashville Sounds General Manager Brad Tammen; Nashville Sounds Assistant General Manager Doug Scopel; Hendersonville Parks and Recreation Director Dave LeMarbre and Baseball Tomorrow Fund Senior Grant Coordinator Meghan Chisholm, will be in attendance at the ceremony along with representatives from Hendersonville High School.

“The Baseball Tomorrow Fund is honored to assist in funding the renovation of a baseball field that is so integral to the Hendersonville baseball community,” said Cathy Bradley, Executive Director of the Baseball Tomorrow Fund. “We know the flooding devastated the lives of so many in this area, and we are happy to help with the restoration effort where we can.”

“Our program is tremendously fortunate and humbled to have received a grant from the Baseball Tomorrow Fund,” said Andy Gilley, Assistant Head Baseball Coach of Hendersonville High School. “The grant has allowed our program to accomplish the goal of improving our facility since it was devastated by the flood in 2010.”

“After the flood, our community was extremely concerned as to how we were to re-establish the facility,” said Dave LeMarbre, Hendersonville Parks and Recreation Director. “With the support of the Baseball Tomorrow Fund, we were able to exceed expectations and create a first-class facility. Our community is extremely grateful and we look forward to many players using our fields for years to come.”
