Colorado Rockies select infielder Daniel Castro from Triple-A Albuquerque

The Colorado Rockies announced Tuesday that they have selected the contract of infielder Daniel Castro from Triple-A Albuquerque and have optioned infielder Ryan McMahon to Triple-A.

The Colorado Rockies announced Tuesday that they have selected the contract of infielder Daniel Castro from Triple-A Albuquerque and have optioned infielder Ryan McMahon to Triple-A. Additionally, left-handed pitcher Zac Rosscup has been transferred to the 60-day disabled list with a left middle finger blister.
 
Castro, 25, has hit in 22 consecutive games for Albuquerque, the third-longest hitting streak in Isotopes history … has a hit in all but one of his games for the Isotopes, and overall has batted .407 (37-for-91) with 17 runs scored, eight doubles, one triple, 11 RBI, five walks and six strikeouts … in parts of nine Minor League seasons, the Guyamas, Mexico, native has batted .286 (648-for-2263) with 298 runs, 110 doubles, 14 triples, 22 home runs, 258 RBI, 36 stolen bases, 131 walks and 243 strikeouts … originally signed by Colorado as a Minor League free agent on Nov. 21, 2016, he last appeared in the Major Leagues in 2016 with Atlanta, where he played 47 games and batted .200 (26-for-130) with eight runs scored, one double, seven RBI, one stolen base, seven walks and 24 strikeouts … across two seasons (2015-16) with the Braves, batted .217 (49-for-226) with 22 runs, three doubles, one triple, two home runs, 12 RBI, one stolen base, 10 walks and 39 strikeouts … he appeared in his second Major League Spring Training with the Rockies this year and batted .267 (12-for-46) with six runs, one double, six RBI, one stolen base, two walks and seven strikeouts in 26 Spring games. McMahon, 23, made his first career Opening Day roster and has batted .180 (9-for-50) with three runs, one double, three RBI, 10 walks and 22 strikeouts across 28 games with 11 starts (seven at first base, four at third) … the Yorba Linda, Calif., native made his Major League debut Aug. 12, 2017 vs. Miami and has batted .174 (12-for-69) with five runs, two doubles, four RBI, 15 walks and 27 strikeouts across parts of two seasons with the Rockies. Rosscup, 29, began the season on the 10-day disabled list with a blister on his left middle finger after going 0-1 with a 7.94 ERA (5.2 IP, 5 ER), two walks and six strikeouts across five Spring Training games … appeared in nine games for the Rockies in 2017, and posted a 5.14 ERA (7.0 IP, 4 ER) with no walks and 10 strikeouts … over parts of four seasons with Chicago-NL (2013-15, 2017) and Colorado (2017), is 3-1 with a 5.30 ERA (54.1 IP, 32 ER), 32 walks and 67 strikeouts.
