Prior to tonight's game vs. the Minnesota Twins, the Chicago White Sox placed infielder Yoán Moncada on the 10-day disabled list with left hamstring tightness and recalled infielder José Rondón from Class AAA Charlotte.
Rondón, 22, has appeared in 24 games with Charlotte this season, hitting .286 (28-98) with four doubles, two triples, four home runs, 10 RBI, seven walks, 15 runs scored and a .349 on-base percentage. He has been the starting shortstop in all 24 games. Rondón, who will wear uniform No. 20, ranks among the International League leaders in hits (3rd), total bases (4th, 48), triples (T4th) and runs scored (T6th).
 
Rondón, a native of Villa de Cura, Venezuela, was acquired from San Diego on January 10, 2018 in exchange for cash considerations. He appeared in eight games with the Padres in 2016, going 3-25 (.120) with one RBI. Rondón spent the entire 2017 season in San Diego's minor-league system. He was acquired by the Padres from Los Angeles-AL as part of a six-player deal on July 18, 2014.
The 6-foot-1, 195-pound Rondón is a career .290 hitter (668-2,302) with 136 doubles, 23 triples, 23 home runs, 271 RBI, 168 walks, 78 stolen bases and a .340 on-base percentage in 589 games over eight minor-league seasons in the Angels (2011-14), Padres (2014-17) and White Sox organizations. He originally was signed by Los Angeles-AL as an international free agent on January 13, 2011.
 
Moncada, 22, is hitting .263 (30-114) with eight doubles, one triple, six home runs, 15 RBI, 17 walks, four stolen bases and a .359 on-base percentage in 29 games this season, his second with Chicago. He left Wednesday afternoon's game at St. Louis and last night's game against the Twins with hamstring tightness.
