OAKLAND, Calif. -- The Oakland A's recalled outfielder Dustin Fowler from Triple-A Nashville and placed right-handed pitcher Trevor Cahill on the 10-day disabled list retroactive to May 6 with a right elbow impingement, the club announced today.
Fowler was batting .300 with three home runs, 16 RBI and eight stolen bases in 30 games with Nashville. After hitting .250 over his first 16 games, he is batting .370 with five doubles, three triples, three home runs and 10 RBI over his last 14 contests. The 23-year-old left-handed hitter will be making his Oakland debut. Fowler made his Major League debut with the New York Yankees last year on June 29 at Chicago (AL) with a start in right field. However, he ruptured his right patellar tendon with two outs in the first inning and did not bat.
Cahill was recalled from Nashville April 17 and is 1-1 with a 2.25 ERA and .202 opponents batting average in four starts with Oakland. He signed with the A's as a free agent March 19 and made two starts with the Sounds, going 0-1 with a 3.72 ERA, before his promotion to Oakland.
