The TORONTO BLUE JAYS have placed LHP JAIME GARCIA on the 10-day disabled list with left shoulder inflammation, retroactive to May 16 and have recalled RHP DECK MCGUIRE from Buffalo (AAA).
GARCIA, 31, has posted a 2-3 record this season with a 6.28 ERA in eight games. The 6-2, 215 lb. left-handed pitcher has a career record of 193-182 in a combined 1091.2 innings, 890 strikeouts and an opponent's batting average of .260.
MCGUIRE, 28, has appeared in one game this season with an 8.10 ERA, through 3.1 innings, three strikeouts and an opponent's batting average of .308. The 6-6, 220 lb. right-handed pitcher has a 3-1 record while pitching in five games in Buffalo (AAA) this season with a 2.70 ERA and an opponent's batting average of .184. In six Major League games with the Cincinnati Reds last season he posted a 1-1 record with a 2.63 ERA.
