Mets roster moves

The New York Mets today announced that the club has recalled LHP Buddy Baumann, selected the contract of RHP Tim Peterson from Las Vegas (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League and selected the contract of RHP Scott Copeland from Binghamton (AA) of the Eastern League.

The New York Mets today announced that the club has recalled LHP Buddy Baumann, selected the contract of RHP Tim Peterson from Las Vegas (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League and selected the contract of RHP Scott Copeland from Binghamton (AA) of the Eastern League. In order to make room on the 25-man roster, the Mets optioned RHP Jacob Rhame to Las Vegas (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League and optioned infielder/outfielder Phillip Evans to Las Vegas (AAA). To make room on the 40-man roster, the Mets transferred outfielder Juan Lagares to the 60-Day Disabled List and designated LHP P.J. Conlon for assignment.
 
LHP Steven Matz underwent a MRI today at the Hospital for Special Surgery. The results revealed a mild strain of his left middle finger. He is day-to-day.
 
Baumann will wear #77, Peterson will wear #63 and Copeland will wear #62 and all three will be available for tonight's game at Atlanta.
 
Baumann, 30, is 0-1 with a 19.29 ERA (five earned runs/2.1 innings) in two games this year with the Mets and Padres. He was also with the Mets from May 11-13 and May 15-19.
 
Baumann was claimed off waivers from San Diego on April 27. He appeared in one game with the Padres this year, suffering the loss on April 11. He posted a 1.29 ERA (two earned runs/14.0 innings) with one save and 18 strikeouts in 15 combined games with El Paso (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League and Las Vegas.
 
Peterson, 27, was 0-1 with seven saves and a 3.45 ERA (11 earned runs/28.2 innings) in 23 games for the 51s this season. He had 40 strikeouts and opponents were hitting .179 against him. He was the Mets 20th-round pick in the 2012 First-Year Player Draft from the University of Kentucky.
 
Peterson is 17-8 with 21 saves, a 3.24 ERA (105 earned runs/292.0 innings) and 345 strikeouts in 205 career minor league games.
 
Copeland, 30, was 4-0 with a 3.81 ERA (12 earned runs/28.1 innings) in five combined starts between Binghamton and Las Vegas this year. He was signed to a minor league contract on April 18.
 
He appeared in five games in the majors in 2015 with Toronto, going 1-1 with a 6.46 ERA (11 earned runs/15.1 innings). Copeland is 65-63 with a 4.14 ERA (455 earned runs/988.1 innings) in 182 minor league games, 172 starts.
