Cardinals Disable Reliever Scott Linebrink

Right-Hander Victor Marte Purchased From Memphis (AAA)

MILWAUKEE, WI., April 6, 2012 - The St. Louis Cardinals announced this morning that they have placed right-handed reliever Scott Linebrink on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 30, with right shoulder capsulitis.

To replace Linebrink, the Cardinals have purchased right-handed reliever Victor Marte from Memphis (AAA) and he will be in uniform (#66) for today's game at Milwaukee.

Marte, 31, has made 30 career appearances in the majors, all with Kansas City (2009-10).  He led the Pacific Coast League with 31 saves for Memphis last season.  Marte was 0-0 with two saves and a 0.90 ERA in 10 appearances (10.0 IP) this spring, striking out seven and holding the opposition to a .182 batting average.
