Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN -- The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have returned right-handed pitcher Trevor May from rehab assignment, reinstated him from the 60-day disabled list and optioned him to Triple-A Rochester. May, who has been on the disabled list since February of 2017 recovering from a torn right ulnar collateral ligament and "Tommy John" surgery, has appeared in six rehab games (4 starts) with Single-A Ft. Myers and Triple-A Rochester this season going 0-3 with a 5.50 ERA (18.0 IP, 11 ER), 12 walks and 20 strikeouts.
To make room on the 40-man roster, the Twins have transferred catcher Jason Castro to the 60-day disabled list. Castro, who had surgery on May 15, will miss the remainder of the season with a right knee meniscus tear.
