The Colorado Rockies announced Saturday that they have recalled left-handed pitcher Sam Howard from Triple-A Albuquerque and placed left-handed reliever Harrison Musgrave on the bereavement list.
 
•  Howard, 25, will be making his first appearance on the Rockies' active roster … in nine starts with Triple-A Albuquerque is 3-4 with a 4.68 ERA (42.1 IP, 22 ER), 20 walks and 33 strikeouts … last pitched on June 2 against Fresno, allowing three runs on four hits over five innings of work … a third-round draft pick by Colorado in 2014 out of Georgia Southern University, has a career Minor League record of 29-33 with a 3.68 ERA (513.0 IP, 210 ER) in 99 games, 97 starts, since 2014 … will be wearing number 61. • Musgrave, 26, has gone 0-1 with a 2.65 ERA (17.0 IP, 5 ER), eight walks and 11 strikeouts in 10 appearances since having his contract selected by the Rockies on April 23 … the Nutter Fort, W.V., native has gone 31-19 with a 4.02 ERA (413.2 IP, 185 ER) in 80 Minor League games, 78 starts, since 2014.
