D-backs place Jeff Mathis on the paternity leave list

The Arizona Diamondbacks placed C Jeff Mathis on the Paternity Leave List and recalled INF Christian Walker from Triple-A Reno.

The Arizona Diamondbacks placed C Jeff Mathis (@JMathSix) on the Paternity Leave List and recalled INF Christian Walker (@CWALK328) from Triple-A Reno.
 
Mathis, 35, has appeared in 23 games for the D-backs. His 3.17 catchers ERA is fifth in the NL (min. 165.0 innings). He has reached base via hit/walk/error in 8 straight games since May 21 (.167, 3-for-18; 6 walks). Overall, he is hitting .190 (11-for-58) with 1 double, 1 triple, 4 RBI and 12 walks.
 
Walker, 27, has appeared in 16 games over 2 stints, 14 as a pinch-hitter, batting .125 (2-for-16) with a double, home run, 2 RBI and 3 walks. He belted a 479-foot home run off Clayton Kershaw on May 1 vs. Los Angeles Dodgers, the 10th longest homer all-time at Chase Field and tied for the third-longest home run in the Majors this season (also: Marcell Ozuna on April 3 @ Milwaukee Brewers), behind Franchy Cordero on April 20 @ D-backs (489) and Avisail Garcia on April 3 @ Toronto Blue Jays (481).
