D-backs recall Braden Shipley from Triple-A Reno

The Arizona Diamondbacks recalled RHP Braden Shipley from Triple-A Reno and optioned INF Christian Walker to Triple-A Reno.

The Arizona Diamondbacks recalled RHP Braden Shipley (@shipley25) from Triple-A Reno and optioned INF Christian Walker to Triple-A Reno.
 
Shipley, 26, was with the D-backs from May 5-17 but did not appear in a game. He was recalled from Reno on May 5, placed on the 10-day disabled list on May 8 (retroactive to May 5) with right elbow inflammation, and on May 18 was reinstated from the disabled list and optioned to Reno.
 
Shipley, in 11 games (6 starts) for the Aces, is 3-4 with 1 save, a 6.48 ERA (30 ER in 41.2 IP) and 36 strikeouts. With runners in scoring position and 2 outs, he is holding opponents to a .167 average (3-for-18) with 4 strikeouts. In his first 3 starts to open the season, he went 2-0 with a 1.56 ERA (3 ER in 17.1 IP) and 14 strikeouts.
 
The 6-1, 195-pounder went 0-1 with a 5.76 ERA (16 ER in 25.0 IP) in 10 games (3 starts) for Arizona in 2017, including a 3.86 ERA (4 ER in 9.1 IP), a .263 opponent average and 10 strikeouts in 6 games at Chase Field. In 23 career Major League games (14 starts) over parts of 3 seasons with the D-backs (2016-18), he is 4-6 with a 5.40 ERA (57 ER in 95.0 IP) and 61 strikeouts.
 
Walker, 27, has appeared in 17 games over 3 stints for the D-backs in 2018, 15 as a pinch-hitter, batting .176 (3-for-17) with a double, home run, 2 RBI and 3 walks.
