Rockies recall catcher Tom Murphy from Triple-A Albuquerque

The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have recalled catcher Tom Murphy from Triple-A Albuquerque and have optioned outfielder Mike Tauchman to the Isotopes.

The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have recalled catcher Tom Murphy from Triple-A Albuquerque and have optioned outfielder Mike Tauchman to the Isotopes. 
• Murphy, 27, will be making his first stint on the Rockies' active roster this season … in 49 appearances with Triple-A Albuquerque is batting .289 (54-for-187) with 34 runs, 14 doubles, two triples, 16 home runs and 45 RBIs … his 16 homers rank second in the Pacific Coast League … in 44 career Major League games across parts of three seasons (2015-17) with Colorado, has batted .214 with 14 runs, four doubles, eight homers and 23 RBIs … the West Monroe, N.Y., native was originally selected in the third round of the 2012 First-Year Player Draft out of the University at Buffalo.
• Tauchman, 27, has gone 2-for-9 with three runs, one double and one walk across six games (one start) since being recalled on June 5 … across the two stints with the Rockies this season has batted .094 (3-for-32) with five runs, one double and four walks in 21 games … the Palatine, Ill., native made his Major League debut on June 27, 2017 at San Francisco and has batted .153 (9-for-59) with seven runs, one double, one triple, two RBIs, nine walks, 25 strikeouts and two stolen bases in 52 games across parts of two seasons with the Rockies.
The Rockies currently have a full 40-man roster.
