Jean Segura Selected as 1 of 5 AL Final Vote Candidates

SS Jean Segura was selected as one of five American League Final Vote candidates for the 32nd and final roster spot on the American League All-Star team as announced this evening during the "All-Star Game Selection Show presented by Camping World" on ESPN.

SS Jean Segura was selected as one of five American League Final Vote candidates for the 32nd and final roster spot on the American League All-Star team as announced this evening during the "All-Star Game Selection Show presented by Camping World" on ESPN. Segura joins OF Andrew Benintendi-BOS, SS Andrelton Simmons-LAA, OF Eddie Rosario-MIN and OF Giancarlo Stanton-NYY on the American League final vote ballot. 
Segura is looking to join DH Nelson Cruz, RHP Edwin Díaz and OF Mitch Haniger, who were each selected earlier to represent Seattle on the American League All-Star team. 
Segura, 28, has been selected as one of 5 American League candidates for the 2018 Camping World MLB All-Star Game Final Vote to select the final player for each League's 32-man roster. The 5-foot-10, 205-pound shortstop is 2nd in the Major Leagues in hits and 3rd in batting average. His 37 multi-hit games are tied for the Major League lead while leading the Majors with 15 games of at least 3 hits. He is batting .330 (115x349) with 61 runs scored, 24 doubles, 2 triples, 7 home runs, 47 RBI, 17 walks, 14 stolen bases and a .358 on-base percentage in 84 games. Among American League leaders, he ranks 2nd in hits, 3rd in average, 8th in runs scored, 10th in stolen bases, T11th in doubles and 14th in on-base percentage. Segura was a National League All-Star in 2013 with the Milwaukee Brewers.

Fans will cast their votes from a list of five players from each League over the balloting period, which concludes at 1:00 p.m. (PT) on Wednesday, July 11th, 2018.
