Mariners Recall Left-Handed Pitcher Charlie Furbush from AAA Tacoma

Veteran left-hander George Sherrill Placed on 15-Day Disabled List

SEATTLE, Wash. -- Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jack Zduriencik today announced that the Mariners recalled left-handed pitcher Charlie Furbush from AAA Tacoma and have placed left-handed pitcher George Sherrill on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 10, with a strained flexor bundle in his left elbow.
 
Furbush, 26, will be in uniform (#41) and available for tonight’s 7:10 game vs. the Oakland A’s.
 
Furbush was a member of the Mariners Opening Day roster in Japan but did not appear in a game prior to being optioned to Tacoma on April 4 when the Mariners re-set their roster. Furbush has appeared in a pair of games with Tacoma this season, posting a 1-0, 0.00 mark. He’s worked 4.0 innings, allowing just 1 hit while striking out 6.
 
Sherrill, 34, has appeared in two games with Seattle this season, and is 0-0, 27.00 after allowing 4 earned runs in 1.1 innings pitched. He’s allowed 6 hits (including 2 home runs) and 1 walk.
