Race To Wrigley 5K Presented By Athletico Benefits Chicago Cubs Charities, Children's Memorial Hospital
More Than 7,000 Runners Participate In Annual Charity Run
CHICAGO – More than 7,000 runners stormed the corner of Clark and Addison streets today for charity, as part of the 7th Annual Race to Wrigley presented by AthletiCo. The runners helped raise money to benefit Chicago Cubs Charities and Children’s Memorial Hospital. Eric Ferguson, co-host of WTMX’s Eric and Kathy Morning Show, served as the official race starter. The top fundraisers this year were Teddi Pritzker and Melissa Stasny. The top fundraising teams were Team Teddi and Silver Fox 9.
“The annual Race to Wrigley has become one of the most popular 5K runs in Chicago,” said Mike Lufrano, Cubs executive vice president of community affairs. “These contributions help the race support so many in need throughout the Chicago area.”
The course route began under the famed Wrigley Field marquee and led runners through the Lakeview neighborhood and inside the Wrigley Field concourse before finishing at the corner of Clark and Addison. Ryan Hopper claimed the men’s fastest time at 16:04, while Pam Staton claimed the top female overall time at 18:03.
Separately, the Chicago Cubs and the Robert R. McCormick Foundation last week hosted the annual Cubs Care Grant Luncheon at Wrigley Field. More than $1 million was donated to 51 Chicago area non-profit organizations this year.
Events like Race to Wrigley presented by AthletiCo and Bricks and Ivy Ball help the Chicago Cubs give back to the community and fund deserving organizations throughout Chicago.
