D-backs reinstate Clay Buchholz from 10-day disabled list

The Arizona Diamondbacks reinstated RHP Clay Buchholz from the 10-day disabled list (strained left oblique). Following yesterday's game, the D-backs optioned RHP Matt Koch to Triple-A Reno.

The Arizona Diamondbacks reinstated RHP Clay Buchholz from the 10-day disabled list (strained left oblique). Following yesterday's game, the D-backs optioned RHP Matt Koch to Triple-A Reno.
 
Buchholz, 33, who will make the start for the D-backs tonight at Wrigley Field, is 2-1 with a 2.56 ERA (11 ER in 38.2 IP), .211 opponent average and 31 strikeouts in 7 starts for Arizona this season. He has allowed 1 or fewer runs 5 times this season, the only pitcher in club history to do so within their first 7 starts with the team. He has held left-handed hitters to a .181 (13-for-72) average and has held the opposition to a .148 (4-for-27) mark with runners in scoring position. 
 
Buchholz, a 2-time AL All-Star (2010, '13), has gone 83-63 with a 3.97 ERA (535 ER in 1,213.2 IP) in 215 games (197 starts) in parts of 12 Major League seasons with the Red Sox (2007-16), Phillies (2017) and D-backs (2018). He signed with Arizona as a Minor League free agent on May 4.
 
Koch, 27, is 5-4 with a 4.28 ERA (35 ER in 73.2 IP) and .254 opponent average in 15 games (12 starts) over 3 stints with Arizona this season.
