OAKLAND, Calif. -- The Oakland A's announced the following medical update on right-handed pitcher Daniel Gossett:
Gossett underwent successful ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction surgery today. The surgery was performed by Dr. Keith Meister in Arlington, TX. Gossett will return to Oakland on Friday evening and resume his rehab on Saturday.
Gossett, 25, was 0-3 with a 5.18 ERA (14 er, 24.1 ip) with 12 strikeouts in five starts with Oakland this season in two stints in the Majors. He was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a right elbow flexor strain on June 5th and was transferred to the 60-day disabled list on July 21st. In seven games, including five starts with Triple-A Nashville, he was 4-0 with a 1.63 ERA (7 er, 38.2) with 42 strikeouts this season.
