San Francisco Giants to pay tribute to Alexis Busch

Moment of silence prior to tonight's game in memory of Alexis and the other boating accident victims

San Francisco -- Giants President and CEO Larry Baer issued the following statement on behalf of the organization regarding Saturday’s boating accident near the Farallon Islands:

“The San Francisco Giants join the Bay Area in mourning the loss of the five crew members of the ‘Low Speed Chase’ sailboat who died tragically this past weekend.

We were deeply saddened to learn that a member of the Giants Family – Alexis Busch – was one of the victims of this horrible tragedy.

The daughter of former Giants Executive Vice President Corey Busch, Alexis grew up in the Giants organization and went on to become Major League Baseball’s first bat girl – a position she held with the Giants for several seasons at Candlestick and AT&T Parks. A true baseball fan, she was a passionate and dedicated member of our organization and she will be deeply missed by the Giants family.

Along with each of the families who lost loved ones in this devastating accident, our thoughts and prayers are with Alexis’ loving family—-her father Corey, mother Anne Anderson, brother Chris, sister-in-law Laura and her boyfriend Nick Voss.”

The Giants will pay tribute to the lost crew members of the “Low Speed Chase” with a moment of silence before tonight’s Giants - Phillies home game.
