Houston Astros and the Astros in Action Foundation host annual Pink in the Park brunch and bazaar on May 4

HOUSTON, TX -- On Friday, May 4, the Astros In Action Foundation's Pink In The Park Brunch and Bazaar will be held in Union Station at Minute Maid Park to raise funds for The Methodist Cancer Center.

Astros players and their wives will attend the brunch and bazaar and Astros In Action Foundation board member Shawn A. Taylor is serving as event chair.  The Pink In The Park brunch program will feature a Talking Pink panel discussion with Sara Lyon - wife of Astros pitcher Brandon Lyon - whose mother is a breast cancer survivor.  Dr. Jenny Chang, an internationally acclaimed breast cancer researcher and clinician and Director of The Methodist Cancer Center, will join Sara on the panel. Also participating will be breast cancer survivor Roberta Schwartz, executive vice president for Methodist Hospital.  The brunch begins at 12:30 p.m.

The bazaar will provide a shopping experience just in time for Mother's Day and will feature numerous local boutiques and unique fashion designers.  The bazaar opens for shopping at 11:00 a.m. and will remain open until 2:30 p.m.  A portion of the proceeds from sales at the bazaar will also benefit The Methodist Cancer Center.

Individual tickets for the brunch and bazaar are available for $150 and bazaar shopping only tickets are $50.  Tickets are available at www.astros.com/pinkinthepark or by calling the Astros In Action Foundation at 713-259-8979.

The Astros and The Methodist Cancer Center are providing pink-themed items to 10,000 fans at each of three early May games to promote breast cancer awareness.  The pink promotions include a pink belted tote bag (May 4), a pink Yoga mat (May 6) and a pink pashmina scarf (May 7).
