Rangers acquire 3B Sherten Apostel from Pirates and LHP Josh Javier from D-backs

The Texas Rangers announced the following two player acquisitions Friday: · Third baseman Sherten Apostel acquired from the Pittsburgh Pirates as a player to be named later, completing a July 30 trade involving right-handed pitcher Keone Kela. Apostel has been assigned to the Spokane Indians of the Northwest League. · Left-handed pitcher Josh Javier acquired from the Arizona Diamondbacks as a player to be named later, completing a July 31 trade involving left-handed pitcher Jake Diekman. Javier has been assigned to the Arizona League Rangers.

The Texas Rangers announced the following two player acquisitions Friday:
·   Third baseman Sherten Apostel acquired from the Pittsburgh Pirates as a player to be named later, completing a July 30 trade involving right-handed pitcher Keone Kela. Apostel has been assigned to the Spokane Indians of the Northwest League.
·   Left-handed pitcher Josh Javier acquired from the Arizona Diamondbacks as a player to be named later, completing a July 31 trade involving left-handed pitcher Jake Diekman. Javier has been assigned to the Arizona League Rangers.
Apostel, 19, was originally signed by the Pirates as a non-drafted free agent on July 2, 2015. The 6-foot-4, 210-pound native of Curacao has spent the year with the Bristol Pirates in the Rookie-level Appalachian League, batting .259 (36-139) with 7 home runs, 26 RBI, and an .866 OPS figure over 41 games in the first stateside action of his career. Apostel's younger brother, Shendrik, is also an infielder in the Pirates system.
The 19-year-old Javier is in his first season in the U.S. in 2018, posting a 3-1 record with a 2.80 ERA (11 ER/35.1 IP) and 1.189 WHIP figure over 10 games/4 starts with the Arizona League Diamondbacks. He has averaged 8.6 strikeouts per 9 innings this season after spending his first two professional campaigns in the Dominican Summer League. Javier was originally signed by Arizona as a non-drafted free agent in 2015 out of the Dominican Republic.
