Salute to Armed Forces day at Safeco Field

Seattle Mariners and Boeing Pay Tribute to Men and Women of the Military Saturday, April 21

The Seattle Mariners and The Boeing Company pay tribute to the men and women serving our nation in the military on Saturday, April 21, with the 11th Annual Boeing Salute to Armed Forces Day. Twenty thousand fans in attendance will receive a special commemorative coin, courtesy of Boeing. Game time is 1:05 p.m. vs. the Chicago White Sox. Good seats remain available.

Service persons from the five branches of the military will be honored in a special pre-game ceremony and they will throw out the ceremonial first pitches:

  • Sgt. Steven Capen, U.S. Army
  • Master-at-Arms First Class Kevin Fahlund, U.S. Navy
  • Technical Sgt. Keith “Bull” Sekora, U.S. Air Force Reserve
  • Sgt. Gregg Johnson, U.S. Marine Corps
  • Information Systems Technician 3rd Class Torre Finley, U.S. Coast Guard

Taps will be performed pregame by Specialist Erik Hasselquist, U.S. Army. The National Anthem will be performed by Technical Sgt. Alyson Jones, U.S. Air Force Reserve, and the colors will be presented by the United States Joint Service Honor Guard. God Bless America will be performed at the 7th Inning Stretch by Musician 3rd Class Alena Dashiell, U. S. Navy.

High-ranking officers from each of the five branches of the military and the Washington National Guard, will be presented with commemorative plaques. Receiving plaques will be:

  • Lieutenant General Curtis Scaparroti, U.S. Army
  • Sergeant Major Ronald M. Jenks, U.S. Marines
  • Rear Admiral Douglass Biesel, U.S. Navy
  • Colonel Bruce A. Bowers, Jr., U.S. Air Force, Reserve
  • Rear Admiral Keith A. Taylor, U.S. Coast Guard
  • Brigadier General Paul Gruver, Washington National Guard

Representatives of the U.S. Military branches as well as Disable American Veterans, American Legion, V.F.W., and U.S.O. will be introduced during the pregame ceremony and will handle the honorary duties of delivering the line-up card and the honorary game ball.

USO Benefit

Fans in attendance will also have the chance to support U.S.O. with a silent auction table near Aisle 128 of the Main Concourse. Items available for bid include autographed baseballs, game-used items and other memorabilia. The items will be available for bid at Aisle 128 through the 6th Inning. Volunteers will be outside the gates of the ballpark collecting donations for the VFW Troop Support program.

Military Discount Nights

Once again this season, the Seattle Mariners offer discount tickets for members of the U.S. Military, presented by EQC. Military personnel receive $5 off select View Level seats or $10 off select Main Level seats for all Tuesday home games as well as Wednesday, July 4. Military discounts are available at the Safeco Field box office and any Mariners Team Store. Must present Military I.D. Limit of four tickets per hero per game.

They can also be purchased with no service charge at Seattle Mariners Team Stores (Bellevue Square, Southcenter Mall, Alderwood Mall, and at 4th and Stewart in downtown Seattle) and the Safeco Field box office.
