CHICAGO -- Prior to today's game vs. Detroit, the Chicago White Sox recalled outfielder Ryan Cordell from Class AAA Charlotte.

Cordell, 26, is batting .246 (50-203) with 10 doubles, two triples, four home runs, 26 RBI, 18 runs scored and eight stolen bases in 51 combined games this season with Charlotte, the Arizona League White Sox and Class AA Birmingham. He appeared in 22 games in center field, 13 in right and six in left with the Knights.

The 6-foot-4, 205-pound Cordell was on the disabled list from April 17-July 23 with a broken right collarbone sustained on April 16 vs. Rochester. He batted .289 (33-114) with 19 RBI over his last 29 games with the Knights.

Cordell is a career .273 (531-1,944) hitter with 100 doubles, 26 triples, 69 homers, 298 RBI, 319 runs scored and 89 stolen bases in 503 games over six minor-league seasons in the Texas (2013-16), Milwaukee (2016-17) and White Sox (2017-18) organizations.

He was acquired by the Sox from Milwaukee on July 26, 2017 in exchange for right-hander Anthony Swarzak.

Cordell, who has no major-league experience, will wear uniform No. 49.

The Sox active roster increases to 29.
