The Seattle Mariners are celebrating Japanese Heritage Night on Friday, September 7, when the New York Yankees come to Safeco Field for a three-game series.
Specially priced tickets are available for the game that include a Mariners Japanese Heritage Night T-shirt. Tickets are $25 for View Level and $40 for Main Level and are available online only at Mariners.com/Japan. The deadline to purchase tickets through this online only offer is 5:00 p.m., Thursday, September 6.
Masaharu Morimoto, who rose to international fame as one of the stars of the television program Iron Chef, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch before the game. Chef Morimoto, who has received numerous accolades for his cuisine and aesthetic, has announced he is opening a Momosan Ramen & Sake restaurant in Seattle in 2019, the third of his popular restaurants featuring the chef's signature take on Japanese-inspired ramen and grilled yakitori dishes plus a diverse selection of sake, beer and Japanese whiskey.
The Mariners hospitality partner, Centerplate, has collaborated with Chef Morimoto on a special dish for the Hit It Here Café menu. A spicy tempura rock shrimp appetizer is available through Friday's game for $16. The tempura battered bites are served on a bed of lettuce with a spicy Asian-style mayo dipping sauce.
