Only 12 home games remain for the 2018 regular season - as the Phillies playoff race continues! The Phillies are returning to Citizens Bank Park on Monday and lead off the week with a three-game series against the Washington Nationals (September 10-13). Below are the top five things to know.
On Monday, September 10, the Phillies will honor Rhys Hoskins for being their 2018 nominee for MLB's prestigious Roberto Clemente Award prior to the 7:05 p.m. game. Being presented by Phillies Charities, Inc. President John Weber, this award annually recognizes a player from each club who best represents the game of baseball through extraordinary character, community involvement, philanthropy and positive contributions, both on and off the field.
The Phillies will honor those who lost their lives as a result of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, at Tuesday's 7:05 p.m. game during the team's Patriot Day Salute. Fans are invited to be in their seats by 6:30 p.m.:
As part of Patriot Day, first responders on September 11, 2001 will be honored as the Rothman Hometown Heroes and change the bases in the third inning. Among those taking part are:
On Wednesday, September 12, fans are again invited to purchase tickets in the "French Quarter," Sections 108 and 109, to cheer on Aaron Nola for his next scheduled start at the 7:05 p.m. Phillies game. The game ticket includes a Nola T-shirt and Mardi Gras beads. Plus, all fans can enjoy a taste of New Orleans, with jambalaya featuring shrimp, chicken and andouille sausage and hurricane cocktails for sale at the concession stand behind Section 109.
Also happening on Wednesday, former MLB outfielder Eric Byrnes will be introduced on-field prior to the Phillies game, as well as play WIFFLE ball with fans in The Yard. Byrnes is currently completing a "Triathlon Across America" for his Let Them Play Foundation in order to help bring awareness to the dwindling Physical Education programs in public schools across the country.
Also on Wednesday, Phillies Baseball Academy campers will parade around the field before the 7:05 p.m. Phillies game. These ballplayers participated in the 2018 Baseball Academy including: Malvern Prep, Archbishop Carroll High School, Great Valley High School, Moorestown High School, Pennington School, Upper Dublin High School and Wilmington Friends School.
Gate Openings: Ashburn Alley opens two hours prior to game time; all other gates open one and a half hours prior to game time.
