Following a week in which he hit .438 (7-for-16) with two doubles, two homers, seven RBI, 12 walks, two strikeouts and six runs scored in six games, Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper was named the National League Player of the Week on Monday. Major League Baseball made the announcement on MLB Network.
Harper led the National League in on-base percentage (.655), walks (12) and OPS (1.593) and ranked among National League hitters in slugging percentage (2nd, .938) and batting average (T3rd, .438). He reached base safely in each of the six games and hit safely in five of the six this week.
Harper capped the week by reaching base safely in seven of his eight plate appearances during Saturday's doubleheader, going 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBI, five walks and three runs scored. With the Nationals trailing, 5-4, in the bottom of the seventh inning of Game 2, Harper crushed a two run home run to put the Nationals ahead for good, 6-5.
