Time is running out to register for the Brewers Mini-Marathon, presented by PNC. The 7th annual event gives runners the option of conquering a half marathon, 10K or 5K. Each course leads participants through Miller Park along the warning track before finishing outside the ballpark on Frederick Miller Way. The races will take place on Saturday, September 22 starting at 7:00 a.m. CT and all participants will receive an exclusive race shirt and finishers' medal, as well as a ticket voucher to a select 2019 Brewers game.
Miller Park will open the field level seating bowl for spectators to join the excitement and cheer for their favorite runners as they come through the stadium and see themselves on the scoreboard. The Post-Race Tailgate Party in the Aaron Lot will include live music by Milwaukee's own Element 13, refreshments for purchase, displays by race sponsors and two free cold beers for each finisher over the age of 21.
Exciting updates to the course were finalized in 2017 for the half marathon. Runners now make a loop in Walker's Point from miles three to five and complete an out-and-back on the Honey Creek Parkway before winding through Doyne Park at mile eleven. The 5K route changed as well with an extended section on the Hank Aaron State Trail for a change of scenery. Course information can be found at BrewersMini.com
Since inception, the Brewers Mini-Marathon has partnered with the MACC Fund and encouraged participants to fundraise in support of childhood cancer research. The MACC Fund (Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer) has contributed over $60 million to childhood cancer and blood disorder research since 1976. Brewers Mini-Marathon participants have raised over $240,000 in the past six years.
Volunteers are still needed for the event. Those who are interested can find more information and sign up for available shifts at BrewersMini.com.
Online registration prices are $95 for the half marathon, $65 for the 10K and $40 for the 5K until 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, September 18. Race packets can be picked up during Packet Pick-Up at Miller Park on Thursday, September 20 and Friday, September 21. Last minute registrations will be accepted for the half marathon, 10K and 5K for $110/$80/$45, respectively at Packet Pick-Up if space is available.
In addition to PNC, partners of the Brewers Mini-Marathon include West Bend Mutual, FS Wisconsin, WTMJ Radio, Rite Hite, Baker Tilly, Meijer Foods, Sky High Marketing, Organic Valley, Studio Gear, Heiser Automotive, Arena Americas, Gatorade and MillerCoors. Two All-Star sponsors will refuel runners at the finish line: Meijer Foods will provide water as well as salty and sweet snacks, while Organic Valley will offer string cheese and protein shakes. Brewers official health care sponsor Aurora Health Care will keep runners safe at medical tents along the race course and at the Post-Race Tailgate Party. Performance Running Outfitters, the official training partner of the race, will provide a pace team on the half marathon and 10K courses.
