Cardinals recall infielder Edmundo Sosa from Memphis

The St. Louis Cardinals announced this morning that they have recalled rookie infielder Edmundo Sosa from Memphis (AAA).

ST. LOUIS -- The St. Louis Cardinals announced this morning that they have recalled rookie infielder Edmundo Sosa from Memphis (AAA).
Sosa, 22, a native of Panama City, Panama, who was signed by the Cardinals as a non-drafted free-agent in July of 2012, split the 2018 season between Springfield (AA) and Memphis (AAA).
The right-handed hitting Sosa combined to hit .270 with 12 HR's, 30 doubles & 59 RBI in 123 games in the minors this season, starting games at second base, shortstop and third base.
The 6-0, 200-pound Sosa finished 2nd among Cardinals' minor leaguers with his 30 doubles in 2018. He hit a pair of homers on June 11 vs. Tulsa in a four-hit game.
Sosa was named a Midwest League (A) All-Star in 2016 and an Appalachian League (R) All-Star in 2015. He was a member of Team Panama in the 2016 qualifying round of the World Baseball Classic.
Sosa has been assigned uniform no. 63. His addition brings the Cardinals active roster to 36 players.
