Knock Cancer Out of the Park on Saturday, Sept. 29 is a day to celebrate and recognize everyone in Greater Cincinnati who touches or has been touched by cancer: survivors, patients, caregivers, researchers and volunteers.

What: Knock Cancer Out of the Park on Saturday, Sept. 29 is a day to celebrate and recognize everyone in Greater Cincinnati who touches or has been touched by cancer: survivors, patients, caregivers, researchers and volunteers. 
The day begins with a free Block Party at The Banks with health activities and screenings, family entertainment, food trucks and live music by Cincinnati band Soul Pocket. 
 
At 4:10 p.m., the Cincinnati Reds game against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Great American Ball Park will be themed Knock Cancer Out of the Park. Throughout the game, ceremonies will recognize local cancer survivors or supporters, including honorary game captains, first pitch, first responder and hometown hero. Additionally, nine children from Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center Champions program will run on to the field with the Reds players. 
Not only will the stadium be filled with members of the Greater Cincinnati cancer community, but the game will include two memorable moments: 
• Pregame, there will be a large display of cancer ribbons on the field-the first time these ribbons will be in Cincinnati.
• At the end of the 5th inning, all fans will stand up and show their support for the Knock Cancer Out of the Park initiative, using a special tear-away portion of the Reds Team Photo giveaway. The cards will allow everyone to write in the name(s) of family or friends who have inspired them in the fight against cancer. 
Who: This is a day to celebrate and recognize everyone in Greater Cincinnati who touches or has been touched by cancer: survivors, patients, caregivers, researchers and volunteers.
More than 20 Greater Cincinnati cancer organizations, including support organizations, nonprofits and healthcare leaders, are participating-either in the block party, inside the ballpark, or bringing their members to the stands. 
A volunteer committee has worked with the Reds to organize the event and conduct outreach to local cancer support organizations and ticket donation to local patient groups. The committee is engaged in a broader campaign to raise funds for cancer research and to support the vision of a National Cancer Institute-designated Cancer Center in Greater Cincinnati.

• 1 to 3:30 p.m.: Block Party at The Banks 
• 4:10 p.m.: Cincinnati Reds vs. Pittsburgh Pirates at Great American Ball Park
Where: The KCOOTP Block Party will run on East Freedom Way. All game activities will happen inside Great American Ball Park.
