LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Dodgers today clinched the 2018 National League West Division Championship. It's the Dodgers' sixth straight and 17th overall NL West title, as the club reached the postseason in six consecutive seasons for the first time in franchise history.
The Dodgers will open Postseason play Thursday and host the Atlanta Braves in Game 1 of the NLDS at Dodger Stadium. Tickets for all Postseason games can be purchased at Dodgers.com/Postseason.
The Dodgers will play "October Baseball" for the 32nd time in franchise history (23rd time in Los Angeles) and for the ninth time in the last 13 years. The Dodgers previously won division titles in 1974, 1977, 1978, 1981, 1983, 1985, 1988, 1995, 2004, 2008, 2009, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 and twice reached the postseason as the Wild Card, in 1996 and 2006. In franchise history, the club has won six World Series championships and 22 National League pennants.
The Dodgers are the first team in NL West history to win the division in six consecutive seasons and the first MLB team to win six straight division titles since the New York Yankees, who accomplished the feat by winning the AL East in nine consecutive season from 1998-2006.
Dave Roberts becomes the only manager to lead the Dodgers to three straight division titles in their first three seasons as a Major League skipper and joins Ron Gardenhire with the Minnesota Twins (2002-04) and Larry Dierker with the Houston Astros (1997-99) as the only managers to win the division in their first three years as the skipper. President of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman and General Manager Farhan Zaidi assembled their fourth division champion in as many seasons with the club.
