The Kansas City Royals will be represented by two prospects in Saturday's Arizona Fall League All-Star Game, as outfielder Khalil Lee and catcher Meibrys Viloria have been selected to the AFL West rosters. Saturday's game will be broadcast on MLB Network starting at 7:00 p.m. CT, and will also be live streamed on MLB.com.
Lee, the Royals' No. 2 prospect according to MLB.com, has eight RBI in 11 games, including three multi-RBI efforts. The Royals' third-round pick out of Flint High School (Va.) in 2016 hit .263 with a .382 on-base percentage and 16 steals in 100 games between Advanced-A Wilmington and Double-A Northwest Arkansas this season.
Viloria, 21, has a .406 on-base percentage in seven games for the Surprise Saguaros, including a three-hit effort in his AFL debut on Oct. 9. He's also thrown out four would-be base stealers, tied for most in the league.
The Colombia native made his Major League debut on Sept. 2, becoming the first Colombian-born player in Royals history and the fourth Colombian-born catcher in Major League history. After leading Carolina League catchers in games caught (88), assists (86) and double plays (9, tied), Viloria became the sixth known Royal to make the jump from A-ball to the Majors (not including Rule 5 picks), according to Royals Hall of Fame Director, Curt Nelson, and first since 2004.
