Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto announced today that the club has acquired left-handed pitcher Ricardo Sánchez from the Atlanta Braves in exchange for cash considerations.
Seattle's Major League, 40-man, roster is now at 36 players. 
Sánchez, 21, was limited to only 13 starts with Double-A Mississippi in 2018, going 2-5 with a 4.06 ERA (26 ER, 57.2 IP). He was designated for assignment by the Braves on Oct. 26. The 5-foot-11, 215-pound, left-handed starter limited opponents to a .286 (65x227) opponent batting average while walking 24 and striking out 44 in 57.2 innings. Sánchez was on the disabled list with a left shoulder strain, April 18-July 4, including making 3 combined rehab starts with Rookie Danville and Rookie GCL Braves. Entering the 2018 season, Sánchez was listed by Baseball America as the Braves No. 19 prospect and by MLB.com as the club's 27th-best prospect. 
Sánchez was originally signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Angels on July 2, 2013. He was acquired by Atlanta from Los Angeles-AL in exchange for right-handed pitcher Nate Hyatt and infielder Kyle Kubitza on January 8, 2015. In 5 minor league seasons combined between the Angles (2014) and Braves (2015-18) organizations, he is 17-35 with a 4.56 ERA (188 ER, 371.1 IP) in 84 games (79 starts).
