The Mariners Major League, 40-man, roster remains at 38 players with today's transactions.
"Santana was one of the most productive outfielders in baseball in 2017," Dipoto said. "He did not have the same opportunities last year, but his age and power bat from the right side make him a very good fit for our club moving forward."
Santana, 26, hit .265 (56x211) with 21 runs, 14 doubles, 5 home runs and 20 RBI in 85 games with Milwaukee in 2018. Santana was originally signed by Philadelphia as an international free agent in 2009 out of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He was traded to Houston in 2011 and made his MLB debut with the Astros in 2014, prior to being traded to Milwaukee in 2015. In parts of five big league campaigns (2014-2018), he is a career .261 (303x1159) hitter with 64 doubles, 1 triple, 54 home runs and 163 RBI in a combined 371 games.
