Mets sign OF Gregor Blanco to Minor League contract

The New York Mets announced Friday that the club has signed outfielder Grégor Blanco to Minor League contract and invited him to Major League Spring Training.

The New York Mets announced Friday that the club has signed outfielder Grégor Blanco to Minor League contract and invited him to Major League Spring Training.
Blanco, 34, has spent parts of 10 seasons in the Majors with the Braves, Royals, Giants and Diamondbacks.
Blanco was a member of the Giants World Series championship teams in 2012 and 2014 and he has played in 40 career postseason games. The left-handed hitter has batted .255 (746-2,929) with 118 doubles, 39 triples, 26 homers, 235 RBI, 122 stolen bases and 394 runs scored in 1,060 major league games.
The Caracas, Venezuelan native appeared in 68 games for San Francisco last season. He hit .217 (41-189) with seven doubles, three triples, two home runs and 12 RBI.   
He preserved Matt Cain's perfect game on June 13, 2012 vs. Houston with a diving catch on Jordan Schafer's fly ball in the seventh inning.
