Mets sign RHP Aquimedes Caminero & OF Rymer Liriano to Minor League contracts

The New York Mets announced today that the club has signed RHP Arquimedes Caminero and outfielder Rymer Liriano to minor league contracts and invited both to Major League Spring Training.

FLUSHING, N.Y., January 3, 2019 - The New York Mets announced today that the club has signed RHP Arquimedes Caminero and outfielder Rymer Liriano to minor league contracts and invited both to Major League Spring Training.
Caminero, 31, has earned 40 saves over the last two years while pitching for the Yomiuri Giants in Japan. He appeared in 20 games in 2018 going 1-1 with 11 saves with a 5.79 ERA (12 earned runs/18.2 innings) before undergoing right elbow surgery. The 6-4, 245-pounder notched 29 saves and four holds with 65 strikeouts in 63.1 innings for the Giants in 2017.
Caminero is 7-5 with a 3.83 ERA (66 earned runs/155.0 innings) and 143 strikeouts in 149 career major league games with Pittsburgh, Miami and Seattle. 
He is currently pitching for Leones del Escogido in the Dominican Winter League and has not allowed a run in five outings (5.0 innings).
Liriano, 27, has appeared in 59 major league games between the Padres and White Sox. He's scored 17 runs, collected four doubles, hit two homers and driven in 12 runs while batting .220 (33-150). 
The 6-0, 230-pounder hit .253 (89-352) with 20 homers, 59 RBI, 62 runs scored and 11 stolen bases in 102 games in the Pacific Coast League for Salt Lake and Colorado Springs last year. 
The right-handed hitter has compiled a .272 (967-3,551) batting average, 198 doubles, 34 triples, 105 homers, 489 RBI, 208 stolen bases and 574 runs scored in 963 minor league games.
