The Oakland A's claimed right-handed pitcher Parker Bridwell off waivers from the Los Angeles Angels, the club announced Tuesday.
Bridwell went 1-0 with a 17.55 ERA in five games with the Angels and 1-1 with an 8.68 ERA in six starts with Triple-A Salt Lake last year. He had two stints on the Bees disabled list with an inflamed right elbow, missing time from April 19 to May 17 and June 8 to Sept. 10. The 27-year-old right-hander has been claimed off waivers three times since the end of the season, going to the New York Yankees on Nov. 26 and returning to the Angels Dec. 21. He was designated for assignment a week ago today.
Bridwell was originally selected by Baltimore in the ninth round of the 2010 draft and made his Major League debut in 2016, appearing in two games for the Orioles. He was traded to the Angels for cash or a player to be named later April 17, 2017 and went 10-3 with a 3.64 ERA in 21 games, including 20 starts, for the Angels in 2017. Bridwell is 11-3 with a 4.60 ERA in 28 career appearances, including 21 starts, in three seasons in the majors.
