Astros Agree to One-Year Deal with Chris Devenski

The Houston Astros and right-handed pitcher Chris Devenski have agreed to a one-year contract for 2019, which includes a club option for the 2020 season. The announcement was made by Astros President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Jeff Luhnow. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

HOUSTON, TX - The Houston Astros and right-handed pitcher Chris Devenski have agreed to a one-year contract for 2019, which includes a club option for the 2020 season. The announcement was made by Astros President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Jeff Luhnow. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. 
With the agreement, the Astros and Devenski avoided an arbitration hearing. 
Devenski, 28, posted a 4.18 ERA (22ER/47.1IP) in 50 appearances with the Astros in 2018. For the second consecutive season he posted more than a strikeout per inning, fanning 51 in his 47.1 innings pitched, giving him 255 strikeouts in 236.1 career innings. An All-Star in 2017, Devenski has made 160 Major League appearances in his three-year career (2016-18).
