A's sign OF Robbie Grossman to one-year deal

The Oakland Athletics have signed outfielder Robbie Grossman to a one-year Major League deal for the 2019 season. To make room on the 40-man roster, right-handed pitcher Daniel Gossett was placed on the 60-day injured list.

The Oakland Athletics have signed outfielder Robbie Grossman to a one-year Major League deal for the 2019 season. To make room on the 40-man roster, right-handed pitcher Daniel Gossett was placed on the 60-day injured list.
Grossman, 29, joins the Athletics after spending the last three seasons with the Minnesota Twins. In 2018, Grossman hit .273 with a .367 on-base percentage, five home runs, 48 RBIs, and 50 runs scored in 129 games played. For his career, Grossman has a .256 batting average, .355 on-base percentage, 36 home runs, 193 RBIs, and 239 runs scored in 537 games played with Houston (2013-15) and Minnesota (2016-18).
Gossett, 26, appeared in five games for the A's last year before undergoing Tommy John surgery on Aug. 1. In those five appearances, he finished 0-3 with a 5.18 ERA, 12 strikeouts, and eight walks. For his career, Gossett is 4-14 with a 5.91 ERA in 23 appearances -- all starts.
