White Sox reinstate Jesse Crain from 15-day disabled list; designate Eric Stults for assignment

Prior to today's game vs. Detroit, the Chicago White Sox returned right-handed pitcher Jesse Crain (strained left oblique) from his injury rehabilitation assignment at Class AAA Charlotte and reinstated him from the 15-day disabled list. To make room for Crain, the White Sox designated left-hander Eric Stults for assignment.

Crain made two appearances with the Knights, working 2.0 scoreless IP with no hits allowed and three strikeouts. He was placed on the 15-day disabled list on April 27 (retroactive to April 21).

Crain is 0-0 with a 2.57 ERA (2 ER/7.0 IP), two holds and 10 strikeouts in 10 games with the White Sox this season.

Stults, 32, was 0-0 with a 2.70 ERA (2 ER/6.2 IP) in two games (one start) with the White Sox this season after his contract was purchased from Class AAA Charlotte on May 7. He posted a no decision in the second game of a doubleheader on May 7 at Cleveland, allowing two runs over 6.0 IP, and threw 0.2 scoreless IP in relief on Sunday vs. Kansas City.
