OAKLAND, Calif. – The Oakland A’s recalled right-handed pitcher Andrew Carignan from Triple-A Sacramento and optioned right-handed pitcher Graham Godfrey to Sacramento, the club announced today.

Carignan joins the A’s for the third time this year and is 1-1 with a 7.11 ERA in seven relief appearances.  He was on the A’s Opening Day roster and posted a 6.23 ERA in five games before he was optioned to Sacramento April 17.  The 25-year-old right-hander returned May 11 and allowed two runs in 2.0 innings over two outings before he was sent back to Sacramento May 16.  Carignan was 2-0 with a save and a 2.70 ERA in nine appearances with the River Cats.  He allowed a .184 opponents batting average and issued just one walk while striking out 21 in 13.1 innings.

Godfrey was recalled May 22 for his second stint with the A’s.  He started and lost that day against Los Angeles, allowing four runs in 3.0 innings, and then allowed three runs on five hits in 2.0 innings of relief yesterday against New York.  Godfrey is 0-4 with a 6.43 ERA in five games, four starts, with Oakland overall.
