Homestand Highlights: June 1-6

Upcoming Homestand Features Girls Night Out, Salute to the Kansas City A’s & K-State Day

KANSAS CITY, MO (May 29, 2012) – The Kansas City Royals return to Kauffman Stadium for a  six-game homestand against the Oakland Athletics and Minnesota Twins, June 1-6, that features several special events and promotions.  The homestand begins with the popular Girls Night Out promotion on Friday, followed by Salute to the Kansas City A’s during a special 1:10 p.m. matinee on Saturday.  The Wildcat faithful will be welcomed to The K for K-State Day on Sunday. 

The homestand also features a number of fan favorites, including Fireworks Friday, Student Night and Local Music Showcase, and Family FunDay Sunday.

Friday, June 1 – Oakland Athletics vs. Royals, 7:10 p.m.

Girls Night Out – Calling all ladies!  Join us at The K for Girls Night Out presented by the KC Chevy Dealers and participating sponsor The University of Kansas Hospital.  The event features free chair massages, mini spa services, entertainment from Howl at the Moon dueling piano performers, chocolate fountains and much more!  Girls Night Out VIP ticket packages include a Royals charm necklace (photo attached), a $5 donation to the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women campaign and $6 in loaded value for concession or merchandise.  VIP ticket holders may also enter the event one hour early at 4:30 p.m.  For more information, visit www.royals.com/girlsnightout.

  • Ladies Sun Hat – In celebration of Girls Night Out, the first 10,000 ladies will receive a sun hat presented by the KC Chevy Dealers.  (photo attached)
  • Fireworks Friday – A spectacular fireworks show after every Friday home game, presented by Hy-Vee and Pepsi.
  • Royal Blue Balloting Day – The Royals host a Royal Blue Balloting Day in conjunction with the “Crown a Royal” campaign.  Fans are encouraged to vote for a chance to win great prizes, including the opportunity to represent all Royals fans as the first fan to enter MLB All-Star FanFest on Friday, July 6.  The first 200 fans to complete at least 100 ballots on Friday receive an All-Star balloting sticker and royal blue Mardi Gras beads.  Visit the official All-Star Balloting Station located at Gate E.  www.royals.com/vote.  

Saturday, June 2 – Oakland Athletics vs. Royals, 1:10 p.m.

  • Vintage 1960 KC Cap – The first 20,000 fans will receive a vintage 1960 KC cap courtesy of Taco Bell.  In anticipation of the 2012 MLB All-Star Game this July, the Royals commemorate the year the Athletics and Kansas City hosted the Midsummer Classic.  (photo attached) 
  • Salute to the Kansas City A’s – The Royals will salute the Kansas City A’s by recognizing several former Kansas City A’s players – including pitchers Lew Krausse and Diego Segui and legendary groundskeeper George Toma – during a special pregame ceremony.  In salute to Charlie O., the famous Missouri mule which owner Charlie Finley anointed as the team mascot while in Kansas City, fans will have an opportunity to take their photo with a Missouri mule outfitted with Charlie O.’s original blanket behind Rivals Sports Bar. 
  • 610 Saturday – Enjoy great activities and music from The Mikey Needleman Band prior to the game in the Outfield Experience.  www.royals.com/610saturdays.
