Two members of the Bradenton Marauders named to Florida State League Mid-Season All-Star Team

Bradenton's Gerrit Cole and Jameson Taillon were named to the Florida State League mid-season All-Star team today. The game will take place in Port Charlotte, Florida on Saturday, June 16.

Cole is 4-1 with a 2.47 ERA (51.0ip/14er) and 50 strikeouts in 10 starts in his first professional season after being selected by the Pirates with the first overall pick in the 2011 First-Year Player Draft. Coming into today, Cole ranks fifth in the Florida State League in ERA, second in WHIP (1.04) first among starting pitchers in batting average against (.208) and third in fewest baserunners per 9.0 innings pitched (9.71).

Cole is 4-0 in his last six starts since suffering his only loss on April 25 at Charlotte. Beginning with his start on April 30, his 1.32 ERA (34.0ip/5er) ranks eighth in all of minor league baseball.

Taillon is 3-4 with a 3.29 ERA (52.0ip/19er), 48 strikeouts and three home runs allowed in 10 starts in his first season as a member of the Marauders. He entered the season ranked as Pittsburgh's second-best prospect behind Cole according to Baseball America's and has allowed two earned runs or fewer in all but two of his starts while posting the second-lowest batting average against (.214) among Florida State League starting pitchers.

Taillon enters today tied for 10th in the Florida State League in strikeouts and fifth among the league's starting pitchers in fewest baserunners per 9.0 innings pitched (10.21) and WHIP (1.08).

Bradenton's 3.34 staff ERA ranks second in the league behind St. Lucie (2.72).
