Community Relations

Feed The Children:  The A’s are teaming up with Feed The Children’s “Americans Feeding Americans Caravan” in providing food and other assistance to 400 Bay Area families Tuesday, June 5. The A’s sponsored one semi tractor-trailer full of food and essentials which will be distributed to 400 families pre-identified by the Salvation Army of Alameda County, beginning at 10 a.m. in the Creekside parking lot of the Coliseum. Each family will receive a 25-pound box of food and 10-pound box of personal care items, which will assist a family of four for up to one week. The distribution is the latest stop on the Americans Feeding Americans Caravan, which has helped more than 370,000 families across the country in cities that have been affected by the nation’s economic downturn since it began in 2009.

UMPS CARE Visit:  On Tuesday, June 5 at 10:30 a.m., the umpiring crew working the A’s vs. Rangers’ series, along with A’s mascot Stomper, will host a Build-A-Bear Workshop® experience for children at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital in San Francisco. Each child will choose from a variety of pre-stuffed animals as well as clothing outfits, including bear-sized Oakland A’s uniforms. The event is made possible by UMPS CARE Charities, a non-profit organization founded by MLB Umpires to enrich the lives of at-risk youth and children coping with serious illness. Food Bank Wednesdays: Beginning Wednesday, June 6, the A's Community Fund will hold a food drive to benefit the Alameda County Community Food Bank before every remaining Wednesday home game.
