Minnesota Minute Men and the Minnesota Twins Announce 14 Finalists for the 2012 Play Ball! Mr. Baseball, Ms. Softball Awards

The Minnesota Minute Men, in cooperation with the Minnesota Twins Community Fund, are proud to announce the finalists for the 2012 Play Ball! Mr. Baseball and Ms. Softball Awards. These senior athletes have been selected by a panel of Major League Baseball scouts and college baseball and softball coaches from around the state of Minnesota. A banquet will take place on Sunday, June 17, 2012 at Jax Café to honor their achievements and select an award winner for each sport.

Both Richard Seltz (Austin, MN baseball coach) and Neil Johnson (Head Coach at Shakopee HS) will be honored with Lifetime Achievement awards for their dedication to their sports and time served helping youth athletes achieve their goals.

"The Minute Men appreciate the support of the Minnesota Twins and the Twins Community Fund for becoming official sponsors of the award in 2012. We have titled the awards Play Ball! Mr. Baseball, Ms. Softball in correspondence to their sponsorship.” Matt Williams, Executive Director of the Minute Men.

Sponsor and advertising proceeds will go toward the Minnesota Minute Men Foundation, which provides resources to underprivileged youth athletes in Minnesota.

Award finalists for Mr. Baseball are:

  • Kasey Ralston – Holy Family Catholic
  • Cody Rutledge – Bemidji H.S.
  • Tim Shannon – Hopkins H.S.
  • Brent Stong – Andover H.S.

Award finalists for Ms. Softball are:

  • Nikki Anderson – Brainerd H.S.
  • Alex Benedict – Woodbury H.S.
  • Sydney Fabian – Hill Murray
  • Taylor LeMay – East Ridge H.S.
  • Morgan Nybo – Hopkins H.S.
  • Carley Pickett – North St. Paul H.S.
  • Cayli Sadler – Maple Grove H.S.
